Latterbarrow Loop fell race

THE popular Latterbarrow Loop fell race goes ahead this Saturday lunchtime.
The excellent 2.5 mile horseshoe gets underway at noon from the Lowther forestry gate on the Ennerdale to Calderbridge fell road. Many local runners have tasted victory at Latterbarrow, including course record holders Alan Bowness (21-45) and Laura Park (26-32).
Cumberland Fell Runners are hosts for the day. The Loop is the fourth counter in the 12 race CFR club championship for this year.
There are two splendid trophies up for grabs for the first lady and gent successfully across the River Calder, shortly after the start. The aptly named Riverbelle and Riverman awards are presented each year in memory of Philip Davidson.
There are plenty of junior races on the day, starting at 1pm.
