Rosie races away from the rest

THE third event of the secondary league was held on Maryport Coastal Park in warm sunshine giving perfect racing conditions.
Rosie Watson, back from her World Schools competition, destroyed the field with a blistering sub nine minute run on course B.
John Cowper (Keswick) led course A with a fine 10,10 run, closely followed by Richard Wilson (Wyndham). Andrew Harris (Wyndham) also had a good second placing on B.
A few runners managed to mispunch in the fast conditions; failing to check the code of the control. Concentration whilst in oxygen debt is the key to winning success.
The league scores are starting to take shape, with the full listing on the website www.lakes-o.freeserve.co.uk.
With the start of the West Cumberland Orienteering Summer Series, many runners will find the jump to club events well within their capabilities. Details of all the fixtures can be found on the website.
