Wildcats show never-say-die attitude

THE Wildcats continued to battle despite going down at home to a Wakefield side currently battling to win the league.

The hosts overawed their opponents in the first half with magnificent breaks from player-of-the-match Amanda Donaldson and Amy Lee down the middle of the field, splitting the Wakefield side apart.

Great link-up play from Laura Rowell and Claire Hall provided the first try of the match with great passing through the hands for Holly Freestone to score in the corner.

The Wildcats continued this attacking surge with a brilliant break from Antonia Norman who was unlucky not to score after a 40 metre run only to be tackled just short of the line.

The home side spent the majority of the time in the Wakefield half and went in only 12-4 down at half-time.

However, the second half was a different story with the away side building and picking holes in the Copeland line of defence with excellent intricate attacking play and strong running lines which the home side were unable to stop.

On Sunday, Copeland Wildcats entertain Hillside Hawks for the final game of the season. Kick-off is at 2pm at the Wath Brow Hornets ground.
