Darts and other sports

LAST Thursday was the sixth heat of The Castle’s double entry singles. THE Danny McAvoy Trophy is on May 7 at The Pack Horse.

The first semi went the distance before Garry Bellard edged Pecker Woods out 2-1. The second game featured the same two players. This time Pecker beat Garry 2-0 then Pecker beat Garry 3-0 in the final.

The evening’s highlight was a great nine dart finish in the first round by Pecker over Joe Batty. Joe fared no better in the second half when Garry hit a 135 finish against him.

During the evening, Pecker recorded four 180s.

The seventh heat is tonight (Thursday) and all are welcome.

The new Hensingham Darts League’s team knockout champions are the Haven Club.

They beat the Sun Inn 5-4 in the final.

The league’s 180 play-off takes place tomorrow night (Friday) in the Calder Club. All players must be in for 8pm. The entry fee is £2. The league’s presentation night takes place on Friday, May 9 in the Haven Club. All players must be in the club at 7.45 for a 8pm start.

The Challenge Cup play-offs are on May 12 at the following venues: Venue 1 – Barra Jacks: Beachcomber, Shipwrights, Lion, Vine. Venue 2 – Bennies: Bennies, Dusty Miller, Barra Jacks, Puncheon A.

Singles and doubles to be played on May 14 at The Stump.

The Challenge Cup final at the Beachcomber is on May 19.

Top four play-offs to be played at The Puncheon, May 22.

The presentation night is to be held at The Crown & Anchor, May 28.
