Sixteen-year-old Alex Pearson, from Hillcrest, was presented with the MVP (Most Valuable Player) award for the Under-17s Cumbria County Schools at the annual presentation evening at St Anne’s School in Windermere.

The latest award completes a double success for Wyndham School pupil Alex, who was named MVP in the under-15 age category last year.

He is currently in his second season playing for Carlisle’s men’s team and represented the county in the North County Championships at Belle Vue in Manchester.

But it’s not only the playing side of the game that interests Alex.

He has been a coach for two years at Ennerdale & Kinniside Primary School, and, when his own playing fixtures allow, he helps out with the newly formed Western Lakes Hockey Club, which is based in Cleator Moor.
