COUNTRYSIDE workers are getting on their bikes in Cumbria to cut pollution and save fuel.
The Lake District National Park countryside team has turned to pedal power when checking bridleways and cycle routes and as green transport to save short van journeys.
National Park Authority ranger, Scott Henderson, said it was a good idea to be leading by example
He said: “Over the coming years it will save many vehicle miles and hopefully encourage others to think about using two fuel-free wheels instead of four. It’s a small step in the right direction.”
