A DISABLED man was rescued from his burning flat last Saturday afternoon.
PCSO Rebecca Clarke
The 58-year-old was trapped in the flat and at one point the duvet wrapped round his legs caught fire.
As he struggled to open a window and escape the thick black smoke, he was rescued by a passing Community Support Officer.
PCSO Rebecca Clarke, 21, had heard the fire alarm and called for back-up before breaking into the flat. She rescued the man who had been overcome with smoke and he was taken to West Cumberland Hospital.
Chief Inspector Kevin Greenhow said: “This further demonstrates the value of having resources, such as PCSOs, dedicated to patrolling in communities."
