Cheque-ing in for charity

THE chairmen of Whitehaven RLFC haven and Workington Town, Gordon Grace, right and Dave Bowden have presented a cheque for £1,420 to the Brainwave charity based at Newcastle General Hospital.
The two clubs sold raffle tickets at the last two derby matches they played against each other resulting in the sum given. The West Cumbria Society for the Blind has been presented with a cheque for £4,073.50 to cover the cost of roof repairs at its centre in Lowther Street, Whitehaven.
Copeland MP, Jamie Reed, handed over the money from seven local neighbourhood forums. They are: Gosforth and Ennerdale, Arlecdon and Frizington, North West Copeland, Egremont and St Bees, Cleator Moor, Hillcrest and Hensingham/Bransty/Harbour forums in Whitehaven and some in Allerdale.
