THE godfather of rock ’n’ roll, Chuck Berry, will top the bill at this year’s 10th Maryport Blues Festival.

Berry, 81, is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has his own star on Hollywood Boulevard.
Many of his songs – including Johnny B Goode, Maybellene, No Particular Place To Go, and Roll Over Beethoven – are regarded as classics.
Berry will headline the three-day festival’s opening night on July 25.
He will be supported by Darlin Ingrid Berry-Clay on vocals and harmonica, Charles Berry Junior on guitar, James Marsala on bass, Jean Michel Biger on drums and Daniel T Rossing on piano.
A host of other top acts, including Jools Holland, have also signed up to play at the event. American blues diva Shemekia Copeland – described as the next Tina Turner – will also play the opening night.
Earl Thomas will play on Saturday afternoon before Jimmie Vaughan makes his only UK appearance on Saturday night.
Jools Holland and guests – including Marc Almond and Ruby Turner – will close the event on the Sunday night.
