Amie’s half the woman she was!

AMIE Meloy is half the woman her husband married – literally.
The Whitehaven mother-of-two has shed an astonishing 10 stone since her wedding day five years ago.
One of her wishes after transforming her body was to have her wedding photographs re-taken wearing a size 12 dress. Happy to oblige, The Whitehaven News offered to make her dream come true and arranged for her to be pictured looking fabulous, alongside her husband, Philip.
Amie said: “Choosing this wedding dress was a much better experience than the last. When I was a size 26, all I could do was hold the dress up to me – I never even tried it on. This time, when I was in the bridal shop, a woman came in and said it must be great to be able to slip into a size 12 dress since I had such a great figure. I thought to myself: if only you knew!’’
She borrowed her chosen wedding dress – seven sizes smaller than her original gown – from Olivia James Bridal, Egremont, while the Ennerdale Country House provided the setting, including the wedding suite used by Amie and Philip when they married in 2004, for the photographs. Her hair was styled free by Angie Fraizer of Strandz 9 with Philip’s suit provided by Tom Little’s.
“Getting ready for the photographs felt like a wedding day without the stress,’’ Amie said. “When I walked down the hotel’s staircase, Philip’s eyes filled up, and my friends and family were waiting for me. It was a lovely moment – I’m so glad I did it.’’
Amie, who at her heaviest weighed 21-and-a-half stones, shed the pounds following the Slimming World diet plan, and this week reached her target weight of 11 stone. She is hoping to inspire more women to lose weight when she becomes a Slimming World consultant early next year.
