THE campaign for a new nuclear power station at Sellafield is tol head for London, next week.
West Lakes Renaissance and Cumbria Vision will be joining the Northwest Regional Development Agency at the conference Nuclear New Build 2008: From Consultation to Delivery, which takes place at the Institution of Engineering and Technology, on Monday and Tuesday (April 28-9).
The conference will be attended by utility companies, private sector businesses and government representatives and is designed to address key issues regarding the delivery of a new generation of nuclear power stations in Britain, as set out by the Energy White Paper in January.
Rosie Mathisen, director of nuclear o pportunities for West Lakes Renaissance and nuclear energy adviser to Cumbria Vision, said; “This is part of our ongoing strategy to secure a new power station at Sellafield and another great opportunity to listen to key players in the industry to see what West Cumbria can do to help the process.
“The Sellafield site boasts many strong advantages but also poses challenges.
“The key is how we can overcome those challenges to play an important role in helping meet Britain’s energy needs in terms of energy security and tackling climate change.”
