CHRISTMAS in Millom will be a little brighter this year thanks to a festive donation from a supermarket.
The new Tesco store, off Lancashire Road, has donated £1,849 towards the town’s Christmas lights fund, which has paid for lights in the market area of the town.
Store manager Phil Pearson said: “We are delighted to be able to give to the Christmas lights fund. The lights look fantastic and I hope that everyone in Millom will enjoy them.”
Mayor Joan Hobbs accepted the donation on behalf of the fund. She said: “I am so pleased we have been able to put up lights in this area of the town. They make such a difference and add a really festive feel to the area.”
Tesco is holding a Christmas Storytelling event at Millom Library on Saturday, December 12. It runs in two sessions: 9.30am to 10.15am for four to seven-year-olds, and 10.45am to 11.30am for eight to 12-year-olds.
