A MIREHOUSE mother who admitted child neglect has been given a two-year supervision order.
The woman, who is in her 30s and cannot be named to protect the identity of her child, was living in “appalling conditions’’ with decomposing pet rabbits in a child’s bedroom, dog faeces in a bedroom and empty lager cans scattered on the floor and kitchen surfaces.
Police officers attending the house also discovered there wasn’t any bedding on the beds, food in the fridge and the freezer contained just a cauliflower cheese.
The smell was described as “horrendous’’ with flies swarming on the landing.
Valerie Hendren, for the woman, said her client had a problem with alcohol and this had been her “wake-up call’’.
Mrs Hendren said the woman, who was also ordered to pay £60 costs, was now taking steps to address her problems.
