After weeks of voting, the winners of our Snap Happy photography competition can finally be revealed.
Danielle Smith clinched the over 18s prize for her photograph of two cheery youngsters in the bath.
In the under 18s competition, 14-year-old James Pettit who by far the winner with his image a colourful array of peppers.
The competition has been running on the News & Star website over the summer, with £500 worth of prizes up for grabs in both age groups.
Run in conjunction with the Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, which runs mental health services across the county, we asked readers to capture an image of what happiness means to them.
This is because activities like photography are therapeutic and promote positive wellbeing, as well as helping people express themselves.
We were inundated with entries, with a total of 375 pictures being submitted. They ranged from stunning landscapes to quirky pet snaps and each one went out to the public vote, via our website.
More than 300 votes were cast in just a few weeks, spread right across the board, with the competition finally closing on Wednesday afternoon.
Now the two main winners, plus 10 finalists can be unveiled – each of which will see their photographs appear on the Cumbria Partnership’s 2010 official calendar.
The two main winners will each get £500 of vouchers for a high street store and a canvas print of their photograph.
They will be presented with their prizes by athlete and broadcaster Sally Gunnell at the trust’s Annual Members’ Meeting at Rheged, Penrith, on Thursday, October 8.
